Beginner horseback riding lessons

Your first lesson should make the next step clear.

No prior horse experience is required. The fifty dollar trial gives the instructor time to meet the rider, observe balance and confidence, and recommend the right starting level.

The first visit

Calm, personal, and built around readiness.

  1. Meet the horse

Learn how to approach, listen, and work safely around a school horse.

  2. Build the basics

Explore balance, position, and simple communication at a pace that fits the rider.

  3. Receive placement

Leave with a recommendation for Unicorn, Level B, or another appropriate starting point.

The Level B foundation

Individual instruction before greater independence.

Most new riders who are ready beyond Unicorn begin with one rider and one trainer. Level B develops a secure seat, walk and trot control, early canter skills, and the independence required for safe group work later.
